MAGICAL UNICORN DAY

MAGICAL UNICORN DAY

Date:  Sunday 15th July

Time:  10.00am - 4.30pm

Following the success of our first event in February, join us and our friends from 'Pop Up Entertainment' for another 'Magical Unicorn Day'.

Price:  This is a ticketed event.  £0 - £8.50 per person.  BUY TICKETS ONLINE.

  • Annual passes, online offers, free passes and discount vouchers are NOT valid on our special ticketed event days.
  • Ticket must be printed / shown on phone as proof of payment on your arrival.
  • To guarantee a Unicorn ride, please purchase as an addition when buying your online tickets.  A voucher will be given to you at the ticket office on your arrival.

As part of our Toddler Sessions at Thornton Hall Farm, bring your little ones along to our special Teddy Bear's Picnic. Don't forget to bring your special TEDDY!

BBC - The One Show Visit The Farm

Mike Dilger and his team from BBC's The One Show were filming in the North of England for a ‘Snow Special’ about the 'Beast from The East’ and how the harsh weather was affecting businesses.

They approached us (Thornton Hall Country Park) and we were delighted to help out!  We are open 7 days a week and all our animals need our attention - even more so in severe weather conditions.

Farmer Benny (Peter Benson) our Lifestock Manager did a fantastic job in front of the camera and the whole team couldn’t wait to tune in and watch 'The One Show' later on.

Thornton Hall Country Park are now a Learning Destination for Children’s University! From February 2018, details will be sent to local schools wishing to take part in this fantastic education initiative.

Pupils can gain passport credits each time they attend the Farm Park and complete certain activities (eg. Lamb Feeding, Animal Petting, Egg Collecting, Safari Ride).

CURRENT VANCANCIES:

Position (1) - PONY HANDLER / LEADER (AGES 16+ ONLY)

Responsible to - Business Owner, Thornton Hall Country Park

Preferred Candidate - This position calls for a confident, friendly and happy personality. A passion for horses, good horsemanship and making children and families happy! 

Qualifications / Experience - Experience in handling and leading a pony is essential as is tacking up, feeding and knowledge on the general welfare of ponies and horses. As this role involves dealing with the general public, the ideal candidate MUST be confident, well presented, approachable and polite at all times.

Roles / Responsibilities:

- Tacking up
- Handling and leading

- Lifting children on and off ponies
- Cash handling
- Dealing with the general public

Hours - This position is PART TIME (weekends and holidays ONLY).  Weekend work is required - at least one weekend day as well as during school holidays and bank holidays.  Please consider this before submitting an application.

Salary - Rate of pay depends on experience and age.

Position (2) - QUAD BIKE OPERATOR (AGES 16+ ONLY)

Qualifications / Experience - Experience in operating a quad bike is vital and training will be given to operate our popular Caterpillar Ride (towing several barrel pods behind a quad bike). As this role involves dealing with the general public, the ideal candidate MUST be confident, well presented, approachable and polite at all times.

Roles / Responsibilities:

- Operating our Junior Quad Bikes around the mini race track

- Driving our quad / Caterpillar Ride, towing behind several barrel pods with children in, around the front meadow

- Cash handling

- Dealing with the general public

- Carrying out vital safety checks

- Teamwork
